In just her second year on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, Gerry Sorensen’s won her first World Cup downhill in Haus, Austria. Sorensen became the first Canadian woman to win since Nancy Greene Raine in 1968. Sorensen would go on to win the World Cup downhill on two consecutive days in Grindelwald, SUI. Sorensen was only the third woman ever to win back-to-back victories in the same event.
