March 28, 1968- all eyes were on Rossland, B.C. and their hometown hero, Nancy Greene, as they welcomed the world to Canada’s first-ever World Cup race. Then 24-year-old Greene, who was fresh off her Olympic victory six weeks earlier looked to entertain the nearly 10,000 fans who attended. Greene did just that winning the giant slalom by 1.56 seconds. Greene went back to back with overall Crystal Globes in 1967 and 1968 when she won in both the overall and giant slalom.
